Summary:16,997. Colburn, H. Aug. 24. Cutting and slicing vegetables.-Relates to a machine for cutting and pulping animal and vegetable substances. The machine comprises a number of sets of reciprocating knives b operating in a slowly rotating trough a. The trough a is mounted on friction-rollers o one of which is preferably arranged beneath each set of knives b. The trough a is rotated by worm gearing c, d actuated by a belt from the shaft k. The knives b are secured to flanges b on a plate b adjustably bolted to a plate n formed integrally with a slide n working in guides and driven by a connecting-rod n from one of a series of cranked shafts, all of which are geared together by means of a bevel-wheel g and bevel pinions on the end of the shafts. The shafts may be driven by pulleys, such as m or m , fixed on the ends of one of the shafts.
