Summary: | 130,677. Ollivier, J. E. March 11, 1918. Pneumatic springs.-The track rollers of endless-track vehicles are mounted in frames having rods fitted with disks which rest against a bag filled with compressed air. The rollers 6 are carried in frames t pivoted to members B connected to the main frame of the vehicle, and stirrup members 4 are pivoted to the frames t and provided with disks b resting against the resilient member E. The member E is connected to a supply tank and consists of one or more rubber casings lined with canvas, and lies under a plate 11 which can be adjusted by a screw 12 and nut 13. The plate 11 is provided with a depending member 17, between which and the disks b springs R are arranged. The upper rims of the tracks are carried on resiliently mounted rollers 7, 8. The disks b may be extended on both sides and be engaged by adjustable longitudinal pivoted members by means of which the central rollers may be depressed, the tracks assuming a convex outline to facilitate steering. The disks b may be connected to the roller frames' by cords, or the roller frames may slide in the members B and carry the disks b. |
