In a first embodiment, a record 2 is fed down a shoot (1, Fig. 2) to rest on an idler roller 8, and an envelope (37) is fed down a shoot (20) to rest on an idler roller 28. The envelope is then opened by suction grippers 24, 25 and a drive roller 3 is lowered to propel the record 2 into the envelope. A drive roller 30 is then lowered to propel the loaded envelope into container 41. In a second embodiment, Fig. 3, the envelopes are stored in a magazine 51, and are removed therefrom by suction grippers (56) and placed between drive rollers 54 and idler rollers 58. The idler rollers 58 are then lowered to propel the envelope on to a table 60. A record is removed from a magazine 71 by suction grippers 82 and is pushed by a pusher 84 to aposition between drive rollers 86 and idler rollers 89 which advance the record into the envelope. A rod 63 is then rotated to raise pins 64 and a pusher 91 pushes the loaded envelope into engagement with discharge rollers 95, 97.
