Summary:1,240,367. Roller - and - ring machines. JAPAN GAS CHEMICAL CO. Inc. 21 May, 1969, No. 26038/69. Heading B5A. In a roller-and-ring machine a roller 4, Fig. 1, mounted by plates 9, 10 on a fixed tube 7 is rotated on rotation of ring 3 by the co-operation of gearing 16, 17, Fig. 2, on the ring and roller respectively. Further, to prevent infiltration of material, pressure fluid is conveyed to the interior of the roller via tube 7, conduit 11 and shaft 12 and is retained at a predetermined pressure by seal rings 14, 15. The pressure fluid may be a lubricant such as grease or air, but is preferably a mixture thereof wherein the lubricant is atomized by an air jet. More than one roller 4 may be employed and the invention particularly relates to the use of wet powdery materials such as compound fertilizers, animal feeds, agricultural chemicals and catalysts.
