[Also in Division A5] Compounds of the formula where R 1 to R 6 are hydrogen or C 1-2 alkyl or haloalkyl, R 7 is C 1-6 straight chain or branched alkyl group which may be substituted by 1 to 4 halogen atoms, or a phenyl radical optionally substituted by one or more halogen, C 1-6 alkyl, or alkoxy groups, Y is oxygen or sulphur, R 8 , when Y is S, is phenyl optionally substituted as for R 7 , or C 1-5 alkyl optionally substituted by alkyl mercapto, or, when Y is O, R 8 is C 1-6 alkyl or alkenyl, or cyclohexyl or cyclopentyl, at least one of R 7 and R 8 being substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, and n is 0 or 1, are prepared by reacting a diester chloride of formula Br-CR 1 R 2 -(CR 3 R 4 ) n -CR 5 R 6 -OP(O)(SR 7 )Cl with a compound HYR 8 . The starting diester may be prepared by reacting R 7 -S-Br with a compound of formula and used without isolation. The products have pesticidal properties.
