Summary:1,193,669. Polyepisulphide polyepoxide compositions. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 17 Oct., 1968 [20 Oct., 1967], No. 47807/67. Headings C3B and C3R. A composition useful for sealing or caulking comprises a mixture of: (I) a poly-(episulphide) having at least two reactive functional groups per molecule, at least two of which are reactive with an epoxy group (e.g. thiol or amino) and which does not contain more than two thiol groups; (II) a polyepoxide: and (III) a metal peroxide. I may be poly-(propylene episulphide) having a M.W. < 5000 prepared using a metal of Group IIb of the Periodic Table as catalyst. Examples of II are glycidyl ethers of bisphenol A and epoxy novolac resins. II may be present at 5-50 parts by wt. per 100 parts of I. III may be lead peroxide. The compositions may also include a polyester plaaticizer, a curing agent for the epoxy resin, e.g. a tertiary amine. An adhesion promoting resin, e.g. a phenoplast, polyester or ketone aldehyde resin may also be present, together with conventional films.
