Summary: | 1,163,349. Tobacco-smoke filters. BRITISH-AMERICAN TOBACCO CO. Ltd. 2 Aug., 1968 [9 Aug., 1967], No. 36520/67. Heading A2C. [Also in Division C7] The filtration properties of fibrous, filamentary or sheet tobacco-smoke filtering material with respect to hydrogen sulphide and hydrogen cyanide are improved by treating the material with a finely divided zinc-containing powder produced by a high-energy comminution process carried out under water. Creped paper and a cellulose acetate tow are each sprayed with an aqueous suspension of a zinc powder produced by electric-spark erosion between two zinc electrodes submerged in water, dried and converted into filter rods. |
