Summary: | 1,121,709. Converting rotary to reciprocatory motion. UNITED COMPRESSION SYSTEMS Ltd. 19 Nov., 1965, No. 49350/65. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division F1] A mechanism for causing movement of the piston-rod 12 of a compressor, comprises two pinions 22 having a pin 24 eccentrically mounted therebetween on which the piston-rod 12 is journalled, the pinions 22 each meshing with a fixed internally toothed ring gear 23 and each being driven around the inside thereof by a rotatable arm 19 having a pivot 21 at one end on which the pinion is freely rotatable. Each arm 19 is provided at the end remote from the pivot 21 with a balance weight 20 and has a centrally disposed shaft 17 rotatable in a housing 13. Gears 16 secured to the shafts 17 are driven by meshing gears 15 mounted on an input shaft 14. The shafts 17 are provided with flywheels 18. The pinions 22 are stated to have two-thirds the number of teeth on the rings 23 whereby two revolutions of the shafts 17 cause the piston rod to perform one complete cycle. |
