Summary:A cyclohexanone-cyclohexanol mixture is recovered from a mixture containing them and obtained by the partial oxidation of cyclohexane, by recovering by distillation from the product a cyclohexanone-cyclohexanol fraction containing less than 10% by weight higher boiling material and less than 5% by weight lower boiling material, mixing the fraction with an aqueous alkali solution, agitating the mixture, allowing the mixture to separate into an organic phase containing the cyclohexanol and cyclohexanone and an aqueous phase, and separating the organic phase. The organic phase may be distilled to give pure cyclohexanone overhead and a bottoms fraction containing cyclohexanol.
