Summary: | A sheet material for filtering bacteria from liquids consists of asbestos and cellulose and at least one organic polymer or polycondensate which has a charge distribution of a dipole-like nature that differs from that of the other constituents. The filter material is produced without the use of a hardening process other than drying and without the use of a hardening agent. In the Example, the material is made by suspending 60 parts asbestos and 38 parts of cellulose with 2 parts urea resin in water, straining, passing over a suction device to form a filter band, and drying.ALSO:A sheet material for filtering bacteria from liquids comprises pores of average radius 45 x 10-6mm. and is made by suspending 60 parts asbestos and 38 parts of cellulose with 2 parts urea resin in water, straining and passing over a suction device to form a filter band, the material being dried but not hardened by polymerisation. Material is used as a 'filter plate', for food and bacteriological applications. |
