Summary:1,083,669. Stapling machines. SWING- LINE Inc. July 14, 1965, No. 29927/65. Heading B4C. A stapling machine, such as a tacker, comprises a ram 59 loaded by springs 77, 78 and actuated by means of a trigger 46, a magazine having a cover 24 adapted to be held by a latch (41, Fig. 1) and a torsion spring 52 having an arm 54 connected to the trigger and a second arm 53 connected to the latch. The trigger 46 is pivoted on a pin 49 and provided with projections 45 for engagement with recesses 58 formed in the ram. The latch (41) is provided with hooks (43) arranged to engage with hooks 33 on the cover 24. In order to load the magazine with a strip of staples, the latch is pulled rearwardly to disengage the hooks, a follower 20 then being moved to its rear position against the action of a spring 26; a strip of staples is then fitted over a rail 25 in front of the follower and the cover closed. Upon depressing a handle 70, the trigger is moved downwardly thereby raising the ram against the action of the springs 77, 78 until the projections 45 disengage the recesses 58 and allow the ram to move rapidly downwardly, a driver blade 67 on the ram then driving in the foremost staple.
