Summary:1,079,855. Two-part couplings. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. April 29, 1964 [May 14, 1963], No. 19003/63. Heading H2E. A plug connector comprises two electrical conductors 1 and 2 bonded to opposite surfaces of electrically insulating material 3, one at least of the conductors being folded over a spacing member 4, 5 secured near an edge of the insulating material 3. The plug is housed within a resilient insulating sheath 6 retained by a collar. The conductors 1 and 2 can be of copper foil, precoated with an adhesive material and can be formed by etching copper foil sheets (Figs. 2 and 3, not shown), to provide multi-contact plugs. A suitable electrical adapter 18 provides connection between two multi-contact plug assemblies or between such an assembly and indivudual plugs. The contacts of the adapter can be soldered to the conductors 1 and 2 of the plugs. In another arrangement the conductors are soldered to other conducting elements which extend beyond the edge of the insulating material (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown) and are folded over an insulating member to provide a plug of the required width.
