Summary:1060459 Measuring consistency of materials FISCHER & PORTER Ltd 10 Nov 1964 45832/64 Addition to 1056161 Headings D2A and A8B Consistency measuring apparatus as claimed in the parent Specification but modified in that the cantilever element directly actuates or is formed by the lever 26 of a pneumatic or electrical transducer, the lever 26 passing through and being sealed to the wall of the conduit and producing a charge in a pneumatic or electronic amplifier outside the conduit to provide an output signal which as well as constituting a measure of consistency, controls means to apply a restoring force to the lever and thus to the cantilever element, so that the transducer functions as a null-balance device. The lever 26 extends through the cantilever element 21, mounted by a collar 15 in an aperture of a conduit 11, into a damping chamber 24 filled with oil. A disc 28 is attached to the lever 26 to facilitate damping. Within a casing 25, the lever 26 carries a flap (not shown) located in front of an air nozzle, so that the resultant back pressure varies according to the position of lever 26. The resultant signal is fed through an amplifier to a bellows which urges the lever 26 to the undepicted position. Alternatively, the pneumatic system may be replaced by an electro-mechanical transducer system.
