One component of a blended multi-component fertilizer consists of rounded prills or granules of ammonium nitrate containing a desiccant salt, e.g. magnesium nitrate, ferrous sulphate, or ferrous or ferric ammonium sulphate. Magnesium nitrate may be formed in situ from the oxide or chloride by heating before prilling or agglomeration. The other component(s) may comprise potassium chloride or sulphate; ammonium sulphate; mono- or di-ammonium phosphate; calcium carbonate; magnesium sulphate; or superphosphate. |
