A target, such as a dart board or archery target, comprises a body member of foam rubber or foam resinous composition with means to support the periphery against excessive distortion when the said body member supports a projectile. The body member may be one piece or formed from segmental and/or annular-shaped pieces, which may be separated by metal or plastic strips. The support at the periphery may comprise a dishlike container, Fig. 3, or may comprise a double sided arrangement as shown in Fig. 4.
