Summary: | 102,036. Gilbertson, T. G. Aug. 19, 1916. Trees and stretchers.-In a tree of the type in which the toe and heel portions are expanded by a toggle, the two portions are hinged together at C by plates C , C covering their upper ends, while the toe portion is cut away at an acute angle A and then recessed at A' to receive both the toggle member D and its operating-rod F when the tree is collapsed, as shown in Fig. 2. The rod F passes through an opening in the hinge plate C and is formed with a ring F', knob, or the like, while the ends of the toggle arms D, E connected to the rod F are cut away at J to enable them to nest into each other when the tree is collapsed. Fig. 3 shows a modified construction in which the tree is expanded by pulling the rod F upwards, the forepart being provided with separate recesses A , A for the rod and the toggle-link D respectively. The rod may be hinged so that it can be turned down into the position shown in dotted lines. |
