Summary: | 1,008,092. Tobacco-smoke filters. BRITISH-AMERICAN TOBACCO CO. Ltd. Dec. 18, 1964 [Jan. 21, 1964], No. 2656/64. Heading A2C. A tobacco-smoke filter comprises a tablet or disc 1 of compressed granular or powdered filter material provided with one or more perforations 6 through which the smoke to be filtered can pass, the ratio of the volume of voids to the volume of solid material being between 1:4 and 1:1. The perforations preferably have a radius of betwen 0.05 and 1.5 mm. The granular or powdered filter material may be kieselguhr, fullers earth, bauxite, activated alumina, carbon, casein, calcium caseineate, dried milk, calcium sulphate, calcium carbonate, iron oxide, silicates and siliceous earth and clays such as sepiolite. A natural or synthetic binder, e.g. lactose or starch may be mixed with the material. |
