Summary: | 757,358. Telephone instruments. KLEIN, S. Dec. 24, 1953 [Dec. 29, 1952], No. 35890/53. Class 40 (4). [Also in Group XL (a)] A transducer using a corona discharge as described in Specification 756,546 is structurally combined with the high-frequency transformer used to maintain the discharge. In an arrangement, Fig. 2, the two windings 18, 20 are wound on a former 22 attached to the quartz horn 12 in which the discharge electrode 10 is mounted. The second electrode, which is grounded, is not shown. In another arrangement, Fig. 3, the winding 20 acts as the external electrode, being connected to ground through the outer sheath of a coaxial cable 19 feeding the transformer with low voltage high frequency. The discharge electrode is connected to the high voltage secondary winding 18. In a modification, Fig. 4, the connections are reversed, the discharge electrode being earthed and the winding 18 forming the external electrode. |
