Summary:The general field of the invention is that of optical systems including at least two interchangeable objectives (11, 12) or a zoom and a depth-estimating optical detecting unit (20) that is common thereto. The depth-estimating optical detecting unit includes an entrance diaphragm (25), a matrix array (22) of micro-lenses and a matrix-array detector (24), the matrix array of micro-lenses being arranged so that the image of a point belonging to what is called an intermediate plane is focused by at least two micro-lenses onto the plane of the matrix-array detector. Each objective has an exit pupil (13, 14) of size equal to that of the entrance diaphragm and, when the objective is mounted on the depth-estimating optical detecting unit, the image of an object plane forms on the intermediate plane and the exit pupil of the objective coincides with the entrance diaphragm of the optical detecting unit. The invention is particularly applicable to the field of infrared imaging.
