The main subject matter of the invention is a lightweight photovoltaic module (1) comprising: a first transparent layer (2) forming the front face; photovoltaic cells (4); an assembly (3) encapsulating the photovoltaic cells (4); and a second layer (5) forming the rear face and comprising inner (8i) and outer (8e) surfaces. The encapsulating assembly (3) and the photovoltaic cells (4) are located between the first (2) and second (5) layers. The module is characterised in that: the first layer (2) is made from glass and/or polymer material and has a thickness (e2) that is less than or equal to 1.1 mm; the inner (8i) and outer (8e) surfaces are substantially planar; and the second layer (5) comprises a rear panel (5, 5b) made from composite material, comprising a core (9a) and two plates (9b, 9c) disposed on each side of the core (9A), said core comprising a honeycomb structure (12).
