Summary:The module has a specific circuit (101) for processing and transmitting data from a sub-network (107) to another sub-network (108) by considering communication protocols, where the sub-networks support data transmission according to the communication protocols. A CPU (102), a signal processing unit (103), a safety unit (104) and a reaction unit are provided at a side of the circuit. The specific circuit is integrated with a communication controller (105) for being connected to one of the sub-networks on a common semiconductor component. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a gateway unit (2) a communication network for connecting participating stations (3) a method for transmitting data from a sub-network of a communication system toward another sub-network of the communication system.
