The unit has a storage section and a set of empty or full pallets (16) that is arranged on both sides of a rectilinear trajectory. A frame is arranged with four carrying wheels (7) and a set of rails (8). A lower frame (9) and an upper frame (13) are allowed to be moved with regard to each other. A hydraulic motor is utilized for actuating two of the carrying wheels, and the pallets are immobilized by two positioning jacks (18). The pallets are raised by four jacks (15) and are moved in translation by two toothed racks (12). The jacks are retracted to put the pallets in rest position.
