The method involves associating a specific geographical area (15) with a virtual communication space (14), and transmitting an access request to the virtual communication space by a mobile terminal (12) through a communication network. The presence of the mobile terminal in the geographical area is tested, and access to the virtual communication space is provided if the presence of the mobile terminal in the geographic area is verified. The presence of the terminal is determined if a communication is established between the terminal and another communication network that covers the area. Une zone géographique déterminée est préalablement associée avec cet espace de communication virtuel. Puis, le terminal mobile émet une demande d'accès à l'espace de communication à travers le premier réseau de communication. La présence du terminal dans ladite zone géographique est testée, et si la présence du terminal dans la zone géographique est vérifiée, alors l'accès à l'espace de communication est accordé. Selon un perfectionnement, le terminal communique avec l'espace virtuel à travers un second réseau de communication, la capacité de communiquer avec ce second réseau permet de vérifier la présence du terminal dans la zone géographique.
