More Information
Summary:Preparing surfactant compositions, comprises: mixing one or more lignocellulosic annual and perennial plant materials comprising at least hemicelluloses with water, at 20-200[deg] C, preferably 70-150[deg] C for at least 5 seconds, optionally removing the solid residue, and contacting the solution obtained with 0.1-50 U.I.per milliliter of solution of at least one strain or enzyme having at least an activity comprising e.g. xylanase and at least one 1-36C alcohol at 20-100[deg] C, preferably 50-80[deg] C for at least 1 minute to give a composition of alkyl polypentosides. Preparing surfactant compositions, comprises: mixing one or more lignocellulosic annual and perennial plant materials comprising at least hemicelluloses with water (mass ratio of plant material/water of 1/100 to 1), at 20-200[deg] C, preferably 70-150[deg] C, for at least 5 seconds, optionally removing the solid residue of the obtained solution, and contacting the solution obtained with 0.1-50 I.U.per milliliter of solution of at least one strain or enzyme having at least an activity comprising xylanase, arabinase, arabanase, and hemicellulase activities (I.U. corresponding to the quantity of enzyme which transforms one micromole of substrate in 1 minute) and at least one 1-36C alcohol (weight ratio of alcohol/plant materials of less than 10) at 20-100[deg] C, preferably 50-80[deg] C for at least 1 minute to obtain a composition of alkyl polypentosides of high average polymerization degree, optionally removing the composition of unreacted alcohol.
