The interface has a control input associated to a control line that controls selection of a function e.g. automatic level control function, to be realized among functions, and another control input associated to another control line that executes the selected function. The control inputs are associated the corresponding control lines and a return line, where the return line is common to the control lines. Each function is defined by a predetermined number of consecutive control pulses, where the number of control pulses is different for different functions.
