L'invention a pour objet l'utilisation de la canthin-6-one des extraits de plantes la contenant, en particulier de la canthin-6-one sous forme d'un extrait de Zanthoxylum chiloperone var. angustifolium, et de certains de ses dérivés pour la fabrication d'un médicament destiné au traitement des trypanosomiases, en particulier au traitement de la maladie de Chagas.
