A device (1) for determining the fineness of mineral fibres adapted to supply the micron value, comprises a device (8) for measuring the fineness index provided with at least one first orifice (3) connected to a measuring cell (2) adapted to receive a sample consisting of a plurality of fibres and with a second orifice (6) connected to a device (5) measuring a differential pressure prevailing on either side of the sample. This differential pressure measuring device is connected to a fluid flow generator (10). The fineness index measuring device includes at least one volumetric flowmeter for the fluid passing through the cell. Independent claims are also included for: (a) a method for measuring the fineness of mineral fibres using this device; (b) application of the measuring device for measuring the fineness index for insulation fibres. L'invention a pour objet un dispositif de détermination de l'indice de finesse de fibres minérales (1) adapté pour fournir la valeur « micronaire » de fibres, ledit dispositif (1) comportant un dispositif de mesurage (8) de l'indice de finesse, le dit dispositif de mesurage (8) de l'indice de finesse étant pourvu d'une part, d'au moins un premier orifice (3) relié à une cellule de mesure (2) adaptée pour recevoir un échantillon constitué d'une pluralité de fibres et d'autre part, d'un second orifice (6) relié à un dispositif de mesurage (5) d'une pression différentielle située de part et d'autre dudit échantillon, ledit dispositif de réglage (5) de la pression différentielle étant destiné à être relié à un dispositif de production d'écoulement de fluide (10), caractérisé en ce que le dispositif de mesurage (8) de l'indice de finesse comporte au moins un débitmètre volumétrique du fluide traversant ladite cellule (2)
