Bristle end shaping method for interdental twisted wire brush

The method involves rotating the brush (26) transversely to its axis in the range of 50 to 400 rpm, rotating it along its axis and grinding and flexing the bristle ends (24,25) against a flat, moving abrasive belt (20). The ratio of longitudinal rotation to transverse rotation is about 6:1. The abra...

Summary:The method involves rotating the brush (26) transversely to its axis in the range of 50 to 400 rpm, rotating it along its axis and grinding and flexing the bristle ends (24,25) against a flat, moving abrasive belt (20). The ratio of longitudinal rotation to transverse rotation is about 6:1. The abrasive material on the belt is silicon carbide, sapphire or diamond. The belt operates at a speed in the range of about 70 to about 1300 ft/min and is rotated transversely to the axis of the brush along a line passing perpendicularly through the portion (39) of the belt which engages the brush.
