The present invention relates to systems for cutting solid bodies. The system 1 according to the invention comprises a cable 3 in a closed loop 6 located over two pulleys 7, 8 thus defining two straight portions 9, 10 of the cable and which cables are located in one and the same plane defining the cutting plane 11, means for translationally driving the cable, abrasive means 4 located on the cable, and means 21 for making the cable rotate on itself about its longitudinal axis, which means consist of means 100 for imparting to the cable, at least at one point 22 on at least one of the two portions 9, 10 a reciprocating lateral displacement in a direction 23 which has at least one component perpendicular to the cutting plane. Application, particularly, to cutting solid bodies 2 such as marble or granite. La présente invention concerne les systèmes de découpe de corps solides. Le système 1 selon l'invention comprend un câble 3 en boucle fermée 6 disposé sur deux poulies 7, 8 définissant ainsi deux portions rectilignes 9, 10 du câble et disposées dans un même plan définissant le plan de coupe 11, des moyens pour entraîner en translation le câble, des moyens abrasifs 4 situés sur le câble, et des moyens 21 pour animer le câble en rotation sur lui-même autour de son axe longitudinal constitués par des moyens 100 pour imprimer au câble, en au moins un point 22 sur au moins l'une des deux portions 9, 10, un déplacement latéral alternatif suivant une direction 23 ayant au moins une composante perpendiculaire au plan de coupe. Application, notamment à la découpe de corps solides 2 comme du marbre ou du granit.
