Summary:The new method is intended to determine laundry unbalances extremely accurately and quickly. When laundry articles are insufficiently distributed, initiated unbalance-measuring phases are suspended. Known methods decide, only at the end of the unbalance-measuring phase, whether there has to be a spin-up to the preselected desired speed value or the laundry has to be newly distributed. The new method shortens the entire programme cycle time when laundry is insufficiently distributed. During the smooth-starting phase, it is determined, by means of the dynamic measuring method, between the lower and the upper unbalance-measuring speed, whether a maximum unbalance limit is fallen short of or is exceeded. If it is exceeded, the measuring phase is suspended and a new distribution of the laundry is carried out. If it is fallen short of, the laundry drum is accelerated to an increased final smooth-starting speed, the laundry is pre-drained, there is a subsequent lowering to the upper unbalance-measuring speed which is kept constant, and a stationary unbalance measurement is carried out. This is highly accurate as a result of the reduced symmetrical basic load. The method is suitable for domestic washing machines and for optimising their programme cycles.
