Summary: | The invention relates to a support and propulsion system for a ship with surface action and lateral keels. Such a ship is capable either of navigation on its hull, or navigation on an air cushion, corresponding to different water line levels A-A, B-B. According to the invention, there is provided, in each of the lateral hulls 1, 2 of the ship, at least one assembly comprising: an engine, installed at a fixed station inside the hull; a transmission box 20 comprising an inlet shaft driven by the engine, and two output shafts 30, 40, as well as clutch means 21, 22 for alternately connecting one or other of the two output shafts to the input shaft, these means being actuated on the basis of the navigation condition of the ship; a pressurised air generator 31, driven by the first output shaft; a marine propulsion screw 44, driven by the second output shaft, this screw being submerged during navigation on the hull and being out of the water during navigation on an air cushion.
