Summary:LA PRESENTE INVENTION CONCERNE LA PREPARATION D'UNE POUDRE DE DIFLUORURE DE DIBUTYL ETAIN (DBTF).ELLE PROPOSE DE FAIRE REAGIR ENSEMBLE DES COMPOSES EXEMPTS D'ALCALINO-TERREUX ETOU D'ALCALINS TELS ESSENTIELLEMENT LE SODIUM ET LE POTASSIUM, NOTAMMENT DU DICHLORURE DE DIBUTYL ETAIN ET DU BIFLUORURE D'AMMONIUM.ELLE PERMET D'OBTENIR UNE POUDRE NON SENSIBLE A L'HUMIDITE, COULANT BIEN, APTE A FABRIQUER DES REVETEMENTS PYROLISES D'OXYDE D'ETAIN, DE BONNE QUALITE. A method for preparing dibutyl tin difluoride which comprises reacting dibutyl tin chloride and ammonium fluoride to form dibutyl tin difluoride; dissolving the dibutyl tin difluoride in an appropriate solvent to form a solution; adding a refractory powder having a predetermined particle size to the solution to act as a recrystallization initiator; rapidly cooling the solution to recrystallize the dibutyl tin difluoride; washing the recrystallized dibutyl tin difluoride at least once with a suitable solvent; and recovering a final dibutyl tin difluoride product having spherical grains averaging 15-25 microns in size which are free of alkaline-earth and alkali impurities. The products produced by this process. A method for depositing tin oxide upon a substrate which comprises preparing a dibutyl tin difluoride powder by the method described above; providing a heated substrate; and depositing the dibutyl tin difluoride powder upon a desired surface portion of the heated substrate so as to pyrolyze the powder, thus coating the desired surface portion with tin oxide.
