Summary:This reclining chair with a tiltable backrest 32 and a retractable footrest 22 comprises on each side two independent rod assemblies, namely a rod assembly 9, 19 and 24, 27 to manoeuvre a footrest 22 forming a base panel of the seat in the folded position and a footrest, tilted as desired, in the unfolded position, a rod assembly 29, 31 actuating a rotating cam 17 oriented along one part of the frame in order to block a rod or rack articulated to this rod assembly and/or in order to release it so as to enable it to project from the rod assembly of the footrest under the effect of a powerful spring 6; and a floating rod or rack 38 articulated on each side to a fitting 33 on the backrest, subjected to the action of a cam 40 controlled by a rod assembly 41 in order to block it against a fixed stop 39, or to release it by means of a return spring 44 articulated to the end of the rod 41 and to a part 45 of the frame.
