Summary:Thermocell (10) comprising a cathode (11), an electrolyte (12) and an anode (13), which are stacked in layers above one another. The cathode (11) comprises a pellet (2) of iron disulphide and/or calcium chromate. The electrolyte (12) comprises a compressed pellet (3) of active material and inert binder, the active material being a eutectic mixture of lithium and potassium chlorides or a mixture, which may be eutectic, of lithium bromide, lithium chloride, lithium fluoride and lithium iodide. The anode comprises a nickel or iron cap (5) for accommodating a body (4) of sintered nickel coating impregnated with a reactive anode material, which comprises lithium or lithium alloys which are molten at the operating temperature of the cell. The cell (10) can be one cell of a set of cells which, together with a pellet of pyrotechnical material (26), is accommodated in a thermally insulated container (21) and are electrically connected with one another so as to form a battery (20). PILE THERMIQUE 10 COMPRENANT UNE ANODE 13, UNE CATHODE 11 ET UN ELECTROLYTE 12, L'ANODE 13 COMPORTANT UNE MATIERE REACTIVE CONTENUE DANS UNE MATRICE CONDUCTRICE POREUSE 4. BATTERIE CONSTITUEE DE PLUSIEURS PILES DE CE TYPE.LA MATRICE EST PRINCIPALEMENT CONSTITUEE PAR UNE PLAQUE DE NICKEL FRITTE. LA MATIERE REACTIVE EST DU LITHIUM OU DES ALLIAGES DE LITHIUM QUI SONT FONDUS AUX TEMPERATURES DE FONCTIONNEMENT DE LA PILE.L'INVENTION PERMET D'OBTENIR DES PILES DONT LES CARACTERISTIQUES SONT MEILLEURES ET PLUS CONSTANTES.
