TERPOLYMERES A BASE D'ETHYLENE-PROPYLENE ET LEUR PROCEDE D'OBTENTION

The invention relates to ethylene-propylene terpolymers made from ethylene, propylene, propenylnorbornene and dicyclopentadiene, in a molar ratio between ethylene and propylene of from 1:1 to 5:1 and between propenylnorbornene and dicyclopentadiene of from 5:1 to 1:1, the terpolymers being amorphous...

Summary:The invention relates to ethylene-propylene terpolymers made from ethylene, propylene, propenylnorbornene and dicyclopentadiene, in a molar ratio between ethylene and propylene of from 1:1 to 5:1 and between propenylnorbornene and dicyclopentadiene of from 5:1 to 1:1, the terpolymers being amorphous polymers of high molecular weight and being sulphur-vulcanisable, having an unsaturation content of from 3 to 15% by weight. The process for the preparation of the terpolymers comprises the polymerisation reaction of ethylene with propylene and with a diene mixture as intermediate in the synthesis of propenylnorbornene, comprising 70-75% of propenylnorbornene and 25-30% of dicyclopentadiene in solvents such as aliphatic, naphthenic and aromatic hydrocarbons or mixtures thereof, in the temperature range from -30 DEG C to +30 DEG C and at a pressure of from 1 to 10 Atm in the presence of a catalyst system comprising soluble vanadium components and halogenated organoaluminium components with or without addition of modifiers, under polymerisation conditions. The terpolymers obtained have the corresponding properties in the crude state and in the vulcanised state. LA PRESENTE INVENTION CONCERNE LES TERPOLYMERES A BASE D'ETHYLENE PROPYLENE CONSTITUES D'ETHYLENE, PROPYLENE, PROPENYLNORBORNENE ET DICYCLOPENTADIENE DANS UN RAPPORT MOLAIRE ETHYLENEPROPYLENE COMPRIS ENTRE 5:1 ET 1:1 ET SONT DES POLYMERES AMORPHES, A GRANDE MASSE MOLECULAIRE, VULCANISABLES PAR LE SOUFRE, AYANT UNE PROPORTION D'INSATURATION DE 3 A 15.LE PROCEDE D'OBTENTION DES TERPOLYMERES CONSISTE A EFFECTUER LA POLYMERISATION DE L'ETHYLENE, DU PROPYLENE ET D'UN MELANGE DE DIENES OBTENU COMME PRODUIT INTERMEDIAIRE DE SYNTHESE DU PROPENYLNORBORNENE, CONSTITUE PAR 70-75 DE PROPENYLNORBORNENE ET 25-30 DE DICYCLOPENTADIENE, EN PRESENCE D'UN SOLVANT CHOISI PARMI LES HYDROCARBURES ALIPHATIQUES, NAPHTENIQUES, AROMATIQUES OU LES MELANGES DE CEUX-CI, A UNE TEMPERATURE COMPRISE ENTRE -30C ET 30C ET UNE PRESSION D'ENVIRON 1-10BARS EN PRESENCE D'UN SYSTEME CATALYTIQUE CONSTITUE PAR DES COMPOSES DE VANADIUM SOLUBLES ET DES COMPOSES ORGANOALUMINIQUES HALOGENES AVEC OU SANS ADDITION DE MODIFICATEURS.LES TERPOLYMERES OBTENUS ONT DES BONNES PROPRIETES A L'ETAT BRUT, DE MEME QU'A L'ETAT VULCANISE.
