Summary:A support fabric is designed to prevent bedsores on long- term bed-ridden patients. The fabric has a pilled pile outstanding on one side, formed from a fibrous fleece or from a film. The pile is anchored on to the fabric, e.g. by sewing, and the pile loops support each other to ensure sufficient air circulation. The pilled loops are deformed under load, but return to their original position when the load is removed. The stitching locks the loops, and the free ends are sewn in, so that the pilled loops may not change position.
