Summary:A device for the automatic screwing and unscrewing of stud- bolts of large dimensions comprises a first means of rotation of the bolting head in one or the other sense of rotation and a second independent means capable of being substituted for the first means when the unscrewing effort of the bolting head exceeds a predetermined value. The invention improves the means of screwing and unscrewing stud bolts of large dimensions described in the parent patent in that it resolves simply and efficiently the problem of overcoming the resistance when a difficult point is encountered e.g. when unscrewing necessitates the development of a couple near to or greater than the max. couple which the jack-free wheel system can develop.
