The coin unit, for a ticket vending machine, has a coin selector (2) which directs the inserted coins towards respective compartments of a temporary coin store (3), in dependence on their values, the unacceptable coins being directed to a coin dispenser (4). The temporary coin store (3) holds the coins until the correct amt. for the selected ticket has been inserted, with the inserted coins returned via the coin dispenser (4) to the user, upon depression of a reject button. The coins pass from the temporary store to an intermediate store (5), with a similar number of compartments, and are transferred to a respective coin box (8) when the compartment is full. The coins may pass one at a time from the intermediate store (5) to the coin dispenser (4) for delivering change. L'invention entre dans le domaine des distributeurs automatiques.
