A flexible multi-core pipe has at its respective ends a plug or a socket connector (5) which includes a plate (6) locating the individual cores (1). The plate is secured to the case of the connector which is in turn secured to the outer pipe covering (3). The plates at the respective ends of the pipe are connected by a flexible cable or chain (7) extending through the centre of the pipe between the cores. This enables tension loads to be taken by the pipe without straining the outer covering or the individual cores. The cable or chain is slightly shorter than the cores.
