Summary:5-(6-imidazo[1,2-a]pyridyl)pyridine derivatives are presented with the general formula in which formula I denotes a hydrogen atom or a methyl group, Y denotes a cyano group, a carboxamido group, a hydrogen atom, an amino group or a halogen atom, Z denotes a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, W denotes a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, R1 denotes a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group, a phenyl group, a group with the formula -CH2R4, where R4 is a lower alkoxy group, a group with the formula where R5 and R6 denote a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group, R2 denotes a hydrogen atom or a halogen atom and R3 denotes a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a halogen atom, and tautomers and pharmaceutically suitable salts of these compounds. The 5-(6-imidazo[1,2- a]pyridyl)pyridine derivatives are effective in the treatment of congestive impairment of cardiac function.
