Summary:The washing additive for use in an aqueous washing liquor contains a) a flexible substrate in the form of a planar formation, which is coated and/or impregnated, in a manner permitting release by water, with b) 0.1 to 30 parts by weight of an organic compound per one part by weight of substrate. The organic compound is able to react with an inorganic, peroxide-containing, compound in aqueous solution. This results in the formation of an organic peroxy compound whose bleaching capability at a temperature of 70 DEG C or less is at least equivalent, under the same conditions, to the bleaching capability of the inorganic, peroxide-containing, compound. To prepare the washing additives A) the organic compound b) is processed to give a free-flowing composition, B) this free-flowing composition is combined with the flexible substrate such that as large a proportion as possible of the surface of the substrate is coated and/or impregnated, and C) the composition is left to solidify. In this context, the ratio by weight of organic compound b) to substrate is 0.1 to 30:1. The washing additive can be added to normal washing liquors containing inorganic persalt in order to improve their bleaching behaviour at temperatures of 70 DEG C and less.
