Summary:PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for operating a transfer vehicle 1 especially serving as a cleaning robot autonomously traveling in an ambient environment 2.SOLUTION: With a method for operating the transfer vehicle 1 especially serving as a cleaning robot autonomously traveling in the ambient environment 2, the transfer vehicle 1 detects ambient environment data for an obstacle 3 while the transfer vehicle 1 moves in the ambient environment 2, the transfer vehicle 1 recognizes current position and direction in the ambient environment 2 on the basis of comparison made between the detected ambient environment data and map data of an ambient environment map 4, and moves in the ambient environment 2 on the basis of the ambient environment map 4, and the ambient environment map 4 is displayed on a display device 5 of the transfer vehicle 1. The ambient environment map 4 is displayed on the display device 5 in a manner such that a display surface is substantially horizontal during the movement of the transfer vehicle 1, and a direction of the ambient environment map 4 is changed in accordance with a recognized direction of the transfer vehicle 1 in the ambient environment 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
