La presente invención revela una composición farmacéutica que comprende el antígeno de la superficie (HBsAg) del virus de la hepatitis B (VHB) y el antígeno de la nucleocápsida (o core, HBcAg) del propio virus. El HBcAg presente en dicha composición contiene ácido ribonucleico mensajero (ARNm) en una proporción superior al 45% del total de ácido ribonucleico (ARN) de dicho antígeno. Debido a cambios en la constitución de los antígenos que la componen, la composición de la invención es útil para la prevención o el tratamiento de la hepatitis B crónica. También contempla el uso de esa composición farmacéutica en la manufactura de un medicamento para la inmunoprofilaxis o la inmunoterapia contra la infección por VHB, y su uso para incrementar la respuesta inmune contra un antígeno adicional que se co-administra con la mezcla de dichos antígenos.
