Summary:The subject matter of the present invention relates to a novel carbon-based material consisting of a carbon xerogel with high micro- and macroporosity and which is graphenated, doped with an amount of graphene homogeneously distributed throughout the internal structure thereof. Said material exhibits a high specific surface area and high electrical conductivity, thereby conferring excellent electrochemical properties for use as a supercapacitor electrode. Said material is produced by mixing resorcinol, formaldehyde, methanol, a catalyst and an aqueous suspension of graphene oxide, subjecting said mixture to microwave heating and subsequently a carbonisation or activation process. The present invention also relates to the use of the nanoporous graphenated carbon-based material as an electrode in supercapacitors.
