Summary:The invention relates to a method and a system for monitoring/supervising an optical access network, used to detect, prevent and locate faults on the optical fibres used and certain network elements, and to resolve some of the problems of the prior art. The forms of embodiment of the present invention provide an innovative system which enables the detection, prevention and location of the faults even in complex point-to-multipoint optical fibre networks, concretely in WDM-PON networks, in a flexible and precise manner, with low maintenance costs, and also allows service provision to be monitored at the same time.
