Summary:The invention concerns a mechanical system for generating electrical energy by using the energy produced by wave movement (wave power), based on the vertical displacement of a counterweight. The system is disposed inside a housing which acts in the manner of a floating buoy and is moved by the action of the surge. The counterweight is connected to an anchored dead weight by a steel cable, which is wound in a parbuckle. The upward movement of the counterweight is brought about when the buoy rises owing to the effect of the surge. The potential energy obtained by the counterweight as it rises is used during its downward movement to generate preferably electrical energy.
