Summary: | Nanocomposite with bactericidal activity. The present invention relates to the synthesis of a novel nanocomposite that contains metallic nanoparticles of controlled morphology and size, of coated core type, inserted and stabilized in an ion exchange matrix formed by polymeric fibres characterized by the presence of functional groups with a pKa<4, preferably sulphone groups. The nanoparticle core is formed by a metal with ferromagnetic properties, preferably cobalt, and the coating by a metal with bactericidal capabilities, preferably silver. The ferromagnetic properties make it possible, by means of magnetic traps, to collect the possible nanoparticles that might detach from the nanocomposite, thereby preventing contamination of the treated medium. Furthermore, by virtue of the high degree of bactericidal capability thereof, such nanoparticles may be used for the decontamination and/or disinfection of different media, such as, possibly, water. |
