Summary:The present invention relates to a promoter sequence denominated FSP1 (SEQ. ID. NO.:2) situated in region 5' of the DNA of gene Sn1 of the tomato Solanum lycopersicum. The invention also relates to constructions of nucleic acid, vectors, plant cells and transgenic plants comprising the promoter together with seeds and fruit thereof. The promoter may be used to direct sense, antisense, miRNA or RNAi gene expression specifically in tissues of the fruit. Although other specific fruit promoters in tomato have been described, tomato FSP1 is particularly useful when it is desired to use a tomato promoter conferring specific expression on the fruit at different stages, but particularly during ripening and specifically in the tissues of the columella, placenta and the interlocular gel, and when it is desired that the resulting levels of expression are moderate or low.
