Summary:The invention relates to a helmet for protecting a motorcyclist's head. The helmet can include at least one movable part (2), such as a visor or a chin piece in the case of flip-up helmets.  In addition, the helmet includes at least one damping part (1) on at least one movable part (2).  The damping part (1) dampens the movement of the movable part (2) as it moves from a first position to a second position, i.e. from a position in which the visor covers the rider's face to a position in which the visor is retracted. The damping part (1) may be a rotational or linear damping device.
