Summary:A projector system includes a monitor that measures irradiance of projected light. The monitor direct light from a light source that is sampled in an optical path of the projector onto a sensor. The detector also receives light from a calibration light source. A processor is configured to process an output signal of the sensor to determine irradiance of the projected light. The processing may comprise applying a colour transform and lumped coefficients. The projector system may be configured to take corrective action if the monitored irradiance exceeds a threshold. One application of the disclosed apparatus and methods is improving safety.
